Kikko Sashiko Pattern - Tortoiseshell Hexagons
The Kikkō sashiko pattern is based on repeating hexagonal shapes resembling the geometric structure of a tortoiseshell. The connected hexagons form a strong and orderly repeating pattern.
Its six-sided geometry makes Kikkō visually different from square and diamond sashiko designs. The pattern is useful for practicing straight stitches along lines that meet at several different angles.
Kikkō motifs appear in traditional Japanese decorative designs and textiles. The repeating hexagon structure makes the pattern suitable for sashiko, quilting, embroidery, visible mending and fabric decoration.
