Two Point Perspective Grid

Two Point Perspective Grid

Download this free printable Two Point Perspective Grid Graph Paper for drawing realistic 3D objects, buildings, rooms, and other scenes. The grid uses two vanishing points placed on opposite sides of the horizon line, making it easier to draw objects viewed from an angle.

Two point perspective is commonly used when you can see two sides of an object at the same time. Instead of drawing horizontal edges as straight horizontal lines, they follow the perspective grid toward one of the two vanishing points.

What is a Two Point Perspective Grid?

A two point perspective grid is a drawing guide that uses two vanishing points along a horizon line. Lines extending in one direction converge toward one vanishing point, while lines extending in the other direction converge toward the second point.

Vertical lines normally remain straight and upright. This creates a natural sense of depth and makes objects appear three-dimensional.

Uses of Two Point Perspective Grid Paper

Two point perspective paper is useful for:

  • Drawing buildings and architecture
  • Sketching houses and city streets
  • Interior and exterior design
  • Drawing boxes and other 3D objects
  • Product and furniture sketches
  • Perspective drawing practice
  • Art and design classes
  • Learning how vanishing points work

It is especially helpful when drawing the corner of a building or object where two sides are visible.

Two Point vs. One Point Perspective

One point perspective uses one vanishing point. It works well for scenes viewed mostly from the front, such as a hallway, road, or room.

Two point perspective uses two vanishing points. It is better for objects viewed from a corner or at an angle, such as buildings, boxes, furniture, and street scenes.

Using a ready-made perspective grid saves you from having to draw all of the guide lines yourself. Simply print the template and use the grid as a guide for your sketch.
